Here’s a personal challenge to consider and reduce your exposure to hazardous EMFs (electromagnetic frequencies).

Think about all the different electrical and wireless tech devices in your home and on your body. We are constantly being bombarded by EMFs from many sources — TVs, clocks, computers, phones, and others. What’s worse, you may be keeping some  of them in close proximity to your brain.

Here are a few of Dr. Hyman’s top tips for limiting exposure to EMFs:

  1. Turn off your wi-fi at night. You can get an easy remote-controlled power adapter to do this, or simply plug all of your electronics into a power strip that you can switch off and on with a single button.
  2. Put your phone in airplane mode. This stops it from sending and receiving cellular signals. This is a great option if you’re in a space without control over the wi-fi, like sleeping in a hotel room. Don’t keep it on your nightstand close to your head, even in airplane mode. As long as your phone is on, you’ll still be exposed to some magnetic fields. And the closer to your body it is, the more danger it poses.
  3. Use a smart case. There are many cases for our cell phones, along with smart devices that help reduce your overall radiation exposure.
  4. Schedule a “digital detox” for yourself. Pick a day this week to power down from all your digital devices. Just spend time with your friends and family. It’s healthy, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
  5. Get out in nature as a regular practice. Our ancestors evolved in nature. They didn’t see themselves as separate. They didn’t just go to the park once a week to visit nature. Nature was all around them. Fast forward to today. In our modern times, you have a home full of EMFs and chemicals. You drive to work. You might see the sun during lunchtime, or maybe not. Then you get back in your car, come home, and watch whatever’s on TV. This is not nature. This is artificial. So get outside more often, and take your family with you.

These are all simple solutions that can lead you to better brain and body health. You’ll find many more helpful suggestions when you view this second episode of Broken Brain 2.
